Kimberly Marrero has served as a museum educator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum for more than two decades. She has provided hands on educational art tours and art experiences geared towards adults, children and families.
In conjunction with his survey exhibition at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2008, conceptual artist Cai Guo-Qiang invited museum educators to submit their own proposal for an imagined museum. Kimberly Marrero and budding art student Candice Licalzi (also her niece) proposed a museum that exists underground within NYC's subway system. The concept was inspired by their keen interest in providing an access to the arts for all. Offering a delightful respite to the millions of New Yorkers and visitors of our beautiful and bustling city, the project offers travelers' a series of rotating art exhibits that encourages pause and discovery of the beauty in one's everyday surroundings. AAG is a series of art appreciation classes lead by Art Advisor, Museum Lecturer and Curator Kimberly Marrero. Classes are devised to broaden our scope on art from all genres and periods in history. Each season's program includes visits to acclaimed art exhibitions at prominent galleries, iconic artist studios, cutting edge public art installations, and the top museums throughout New York City's five boroughs. All of our classes are interactive experiences which encourage a group discussion and a common ground for sharing our comments, thoughts, questions and ideas about the art we will be viewing. All classes begin with a formal introduction and active looking combined with moments of contextual information provided. We conclude every experience with a thoughtful reflection and wrap up discussion among the group.
AAG offers classes for both Fall/Winter and Spring Summer Seasons. Dates are chosen by the group based on the majority of attendees. All dates and notifications are sent by email.
